The decision has not been taken lightly but as we've been so busy in recent years we could no longer fulfil our weekly commitment to the world's most famous club. In 2011 the band had only been able to appear for 29 out of the 52 Thursdays and we know this was unfair to the club and our “Cavern Crew” fan base.
Plans are already in place for an annual homecoming show at the Cavern Club - our spiritual home - which we hope to perform on the last Friday of February every year to coincide with The Mersey Beatles' first gig as residents at The Cavern (February 25, 2002, which we played for George’s birthday 3 months after he passed away).
The Cavern Club has, very kindly, commissioned an exclusive t-shirt design to commemorate our 10 years at the club and this will be available soon.
Thursday nights will never be the same but we'll be building a new fan club page on this website - before the end of February - so that all Mersey Beatles fans can look out for our gigs and for, what we hope will be, a monthly return to Liverpool for the band. Fan club members will receive discounts on tickets for future shows and other goodies. Many grateful thanks to our 'Cavern Crew' fan base for helping us to keep the Beatles music alive every Thursday.
Heartfelt thanks must also go to Bill Heckle and Dave Jones and everyone at Cavern City Tours for supporting and believing in us all these years.
